Bacon Cheeseburgers are always a hit and these fun burger sliders are alway a crowd favorite made with venison.

Bacon Cheeseburger Venison Slider.

Sliders are perfect for game day gatherings and will make a great weeknight meal served up with Southern Potato Salad and Peach BBQ Baked Beans.

Ingredients Needed

  • Ground Venison ~ Substitute lean ground beef if you don’t have venison.
  • Steak Rub ~ Or your favorite all purpose seasoning.
  • Thick Sliced Bacon
  • Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sauce
  • American Cheese Slices ~ Cheddar, Swiss or pepper jack works too.
  • Dinner Rolls or slider buns.
  • Mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup for serving.

Step By Step Directions

Ground venison flattened on parchment paper.

STEP 1 Mix ground venison with steak rub.

Flatten venison mixture to 1/4 inch thickness. We rolled it between two sheets of parchment paper.

We use a biscuit cutter the same size as our buns to cut out the patties.

STEP 2 Wrap each patty in a slice of bacon.

STEP 3 Cook over indirect fire with the grill lid closed about 10 minutes.

STEP 4 Flip the burgers.

Brush with bbq sauce.

Continue to cook with the grill closed another 5 minutes.

Flip the burgers once more and brush again with bbq sauce. Continue to cook until bacon is cooked through.

STEP 6 Top with American cheese.

STEP 7 Remove from grill.

STEP 8 Slice dinner rolls in half and lightly toast if desired.

STEP 9 Place burgers on buns and serve with your favorite condiments.

How to Store and Reheat

Store sliders in a zip top bag in the refrigerator up to 4 days.

To reheat sliders. Place on a baking sheet and cover with foil. Bake at 350° for 10- 15 minutes until heated through.

Venison Sliders

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds ground venison
  • 3 tablespoons steak rub
  • 16 slices thick cut bacon
  • ½ cup sweet and tangy bbq sauce
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 16 dinner rolls or slider buns
  • mayonnaise mustard, ketchup for serving

Instructions

  • Prepare a grill fire to 350° using pecan or hickory for smoke flavor.
  • Mix venison with steak rub and flatten to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter to shape the patties to about the same size as your dinner rolls.
  • Wrap each venison patty with a thick slice of bacon.
  • Grill bacon wrapped patties over indirect fire with the grill closed about 10 minutes. Flip the burgers and brush with bbq sauce.
  • Continue to cook another 5 minutes, flip the burgers and brush with more bbq sauce. Cook until bacon is cooked through and venison has reached 165° using a ditgital meat thermometer. About 20 minutes total cooking time.
  • Top each burger with half of a slice of cheese.
  • Remove from grill.
  • Cut dinner rolls in half and toast lightly if desired.
  • Serve patties on buns with your favorite condiments.

Notes
