Ingredients
- White Onions
- Olive Oil
- Butter
- Cream Cheese
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Granulated Garlic
- Dried Thyme
- Dried Oregano
- Dried Basil
- Kosher Salt
- Black Pepper
- Fresh Parsley
Step by Step Instructions
- Cut the ends off of whole onions so that they will sit flat. Slice in half and remove the insides of the onions, leaving about 2-3 layers as a shell.
- Place a small onion slice into the bottom of each half, so that the filling will not run out of the shell.
- Slice the insides of the onions and cook in butter, in a small pan over medium heat, stirring often until caramelized.
- Add softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, thyme, oregano, basil, salt and pepper.
- Mix until well combined.
- Spray or brush onion shells with olive oil, coating both sides.
- Stuff onions with filling.
- Cook onions over indirect fire with the grill closed for about 15- 20 minutes.
- When onions are lightly browned and filling is hot, remove to a serving platter.
- Serve immediately.
How to Store and Reheat:
Store leftover onions in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 4 days.
Reheat in an air fryer at 350° for about 4-5 minutes or on a baking sheet in a 350° oven for about 8- 10 minutes.
