How to Grill Garlic Butter Steaks:
- Set steaks out on the counter to come to room temperature and prepare a grill fire to about 300°. Use hickory or oak for the best smoke flavor.
- Mix dry rub together by combining brown sugar, granulated garlic, smoked paprika, dried basil, salt, pepper and dry mustard.
- Drizzle steaks with olive oil and sprinkle with dry rub.
- Prepare the garlic butter by mixing softened salted butter with chopped fresh rosemary and minced garlic. Granulated garlic and ground rosemary works too.
- Set aside until steaks are grilled.
- Place steaks over direct fire to sear 2 minutes.
- Flip steaks and move to indirect fire. Cook until internal temperature reaches desired doneness. Use a digital meat thermometer and your steaks are guaranteed to be cooked perfectly.
INTERNAL TEMPERATURES FOR RIBEYE STEAKS:
- Rare: 130°
- Medium Rare: 140°
- Medium: 155°
- Well Done: 165°
- Remove steaks from the grill and top with about 1 tablespoon of garlic butter. Allow steaks to rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Garlic Butter Steaks
Ingredients
- 4 Ribeye Steaks
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon granulated garlic
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon dry mustard
For the Garlic Butter
- ¼ cup softened butter
- ½ tablespoon minced fresh rosemary or ground rosemary
- ½ teaspoon minced fresh garlic or granulated garlic
Instructions
- Prepare a grill fire to about 300° using hickory or oak for smoke flavor.
- Pat steaks dry with paper towels and drizzle with olive oil.
- Combine brown sugar, granulated garlic, smoked paprika, basil, salt, pepper and dry mustard. Rub onto all sides of steaks.
- Mix up the garlic butter by combining softened butter, rosemary and garlic in a small bowl. Set aside while you grill the steaks.
- Place steaks over direct fire and grill 2 minutes to sear. Flip steaks and place over indirect heat. Continue to cook for 5- 7 minutes or until steaks reach desired internal temperature, 145° for medium.
- Remove steaks from grill and top each with a tablespoon of garlic butter. Allow to rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

I live in apartments that don’t allow grills but I want a good steak could I make this on George foreman or stove with cast iron skillet?
You can make it in a skillet or indoor grill. Just follow a similar cooking time and use a digital thermometer to cook to your desired doneness.
