Grilled Ribeye Steaks

Grilling ribeye steaks

Ribeyes are one of the most tender steak cuts and cook up quickly on the grill. Rather you are enjoying a date night in or grilling for friends on the weekend, these steaks are going to be a big hit.

How to Grill Ribeye Steaks:

Ribeye Steaks

  • Set steaks out to come to room temperature about 30 minutes before grilling. 

Brown Sugar Dry Rub

  • Mix up the dry rub by combining: brown sugar, granulated garlic, kosher salt, smoked paprika, black pepper and dry mustard. 

Brown Sugar Rubbed Ribeyes

  • Drizzle steaks with olive oil. Season on both sides with dry rub.
  • Tenderize the steaks with a sharp knife or large tined fork, rubbing the oil and seasonings down into the meat. 
  • Prepare grill to about a 300° fire with hickory wood for smoke flavoring.

Searing steaks on the grill

  • Place steaks over direct fire to sear about 2 minutes. Move to indirect fire and continue to cook about 3 minutes. 

Grilled Ribeyes

  • Flip steaks and continue to cook until desired doneness. Cooking time will vary based on the thickness of your steak. 

Grilled Steaks with brown sugar rub

  • Remove from grill and allow to rest 10 minutes before serving. 

Internal Temperatures for Ribeye Steaks:

  • Rare:  130°
  • Medium Rare: 140°
  • Medium: 155°
  • Well Done: 165°

You can remove steaks from the grill about 5 degrees before desired doneness and temperature will come up as the steaks rest.

Grilled Ribeye Steaks

Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes

Grilled Ribeye Steaks with brown sugar dry rub are simple and delicious. A quick homemade brown sugar rub adds a flavorful crust to these tender and juicy steaks. 

Ingredients

  • 4 ribeye steaks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated garlic
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard

Instructions

Set steaks out to come to room temperature about 30 minutes before grilling.

Make the rub by combining brown sugar, garlic, smoked paprika, salt, pepper and dry mustard together.

Drizzle olive oil over steaks and sprinkle with rub on both sides.

Using a sharp knife or large tined fork, tenderize steaks while rubbing the oil and seasonings down into the steaks.

Prepare a grill fire to about 300° with hickory wood for smoke flavor.

Sear steaks over direct fire for about 2 minutes. Flip steaks and move to indirect heat.

Continue to cook for until internal temperature reaches desired doneness.

Remove from grill and allow to rest 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Rare: 130°, Medium Rare: 140°, Medium: 155°, Well Done: 165°

    I had already defrosted bone in pork chops when I saw this recipe. Of course I had to try it on the chops so glad I did. OMG they were wonderful, so flavorful and moist. Th9is rub would probably be great on anything. Thanks
