  • Heat Source: Hardwood Lump Charcoal
  • Wood: Pecan
  • Charcoal Grill Temperature: 400°

Tips for Using Wooden Skewers:

To keep wooden skewers from burning, soak them in water for about 10 to 15 minutes. If you forget to soak them, use this alternative method to keep them from burning. Lay a piece of foil beneath the skewers on the grill and it will deflect the heat and protect the wood or bamboo skewers from flames and burning. Of course you can always use flat metal skewers if you have them.

How to Store and Reheat:

  • Remove beef from skewers and wrap in plastic wrap or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a covered skillet with about a tablespoon of water over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes, turning about half way through.

Beef kebabs are a great option for ground chuck or lean ground beef, we used a basic 70/30 mixture for this recipe. It’s also a great alternative to burgers and can be served on a long rolls (like hot dog buns) or with warm pita bread.

The oblong patties hold their shape and do not fall apart on the grill or when you are eating them, making them a great hand-held option for feeding a crowd.
