Grilled Steak Tacos

Grilled Steak Tacos are one of the best budget friendly meals that the entire family can agree on. This recipe uses an inexpensive cut of chuck steak for smoky beef tacos that everyone can add their favorite toppings.

Mexican is always a hit for dinner at our house and rather we are making Grilled Steak Fajitas, Smoked Ground Beef Tacos or Grilled Chicken Enchiladas, everyone is running to the dinner table.

Ingredients for Grilled Steak Tacos:

For the Steak

  • Steak ~ Chuck Steak, Flank Steak or Sirloin Steak
  • Olive Oil
  • Steak Rub 

For the Tacos

How to Grill Steak Tacos:

  • Prepare a grill fire to 350° using hickory or pecan for smoke flavor.

  • Pat steak dry with paper towels. 
  • Coat both sides with olive oil.
  • Sprinkle with steak rub over both sides, pressing the rub into the meat.

  • Cook the steak over indirect fire with the grill closed about 10 minutes.
  • Flip the steak and continue to cook to desired doneness.
  • We used chuck steak for this recipe, which is a pretty tough cut of steak. We cooked it to about 185° with a digital thermometer.
  • If you are using a more tender cut like sirloin steak, cook to about 140°.

  • Remove steak from the grill and allow to rest 10 minutes.

  • Chop steak into bite- sized pieces.

  • Serve with taco shells and your favorite taco toppings like shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, grilled salsa, sour cream and cilantro.

How to Store and Reheat:

  • Store leftover grilled steak in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 4 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet over medium heat, stirring until heated through.

Ingredients
