Steak Tacos are one of our favorite meals to make on the grill for family get togethers and these chili lime steak tacos were a huge hit with so much flavor. The marinade comes together really easily to make this recipe unforgettable.

Chili Lime Steak Tacos ~ Easy Grilled Steak Tacos

Taco night is generally a meal everyone agrees on since each taco can be topped with each person’s favorite toppings.

The chili lime steak is tender, juicy and so delicious and also makes great burritos or rice bowls.

Ingredients Needed:

  • Sirloin Steak
  • Lime Juice
  • Brown Sugar
  • Minced Garlic
  • Chili Powder – we used Ancho Chili 
  • Onion Powder
  • Kosher Salt

How to Grill Chili Lime Steak Tacos:

  • Mix the marinade together in a bowl.
  • Pat the steak dry with paper towels and place in a zip top bag.
  • Pour the marinade over the steak. Seal and turn the bag over several times to coat the steak. Refrigerate 1 – 4 hours.
  • When you are ready to grill, prepare a grill fire to about 350°.

  • Slice an onion and bell peppers.

  • Remove steak to a clean baking sheet with the sliced onion and peppers.
  • Toss the onions and peppers with a couple of tablespoons of the marinade.

  • Place the steak and vegetables onto the grill and cook 12- 15 minutes until steak reaches desired doneness and vegetables are softened.

Temperature for Grilled Sirloin Steak:

  • Medium Rare: 140°
  • Medium: 155°
  • Well Done: 165°

  • Remove steak and vegetables to a clean baking sheet.
  • Allow steak to rest 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Coarsely chop the onions and peppers.
  • Slice the steak into thin strips.

Serve with warmed taco shells, shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, salsa fresca, sour cream, guacamole and cilantro.

How to Store and Reheat:

  • Grilled steak and vegetables can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet coated with olive oil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until heated through.

What to Serve with Steak Tacos:

If you would like to round out the meal with a few side dishes add Grilled Mexican Street Corn, Spanish Rice or Foil Packet Mexican Corn.

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ pounds sirloin steak
  • ½ cup lime juice
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tablespoon ancho chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 1 bell pepper. or 6 mini sweet peppers sliced

For the Tacos

Instructions

  • Pat steak dry with paper towels and place in a zip top bag.
  • In a bowl, add lime juice, brown sugar, minced garlic, chili powder, onion powder and salt. Whisk until well combined.
  • Pour the marinade over the steak. Press out extra air and seal the bag. Turn it over 3 or 4 times until steak is well coated in marinade. Refrigerate 1 - 4 hours.
  • Prepare a grill fire to 350·.
  • Remove steak from marinade and place on a rimmed baking sheet with the sliced onion and peppers. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of marinade over the vegetables, tossing to lightly coat. Discard remaining marinade.
  • Cook the steak and vegetables over indirect fire with the grill closed about 10- 12 minutes or until steak reaches desired doneness using a digital thermometer. We cooked ours to 145°.
  • Remove steak and vegetables to a clean baking sheet. Tent the steak and rest 10 minutes.
  • Coarsely chop the vegetables.
  • Slice steak into thin strips and serve with grilled vegetables and your favorite toppings on warmed taco shells.

Notes

Store leftover steak and vegetables in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
Reheat in a skillet coated with olive oil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until heated through.
