Smoked Pork Sandwich ~ Cuban Style
A classic Cuban sandwich is always a crowd favorite and we are putting our own spin on a classic. These sandwiches can be ready to eat in just about 15 minutes and make a hearty dinner that is so satisfying.
Ingredients Needed:
- Smoked Pork Butt ~ thin sliced.
- Smoked Ham ~ thin sliced.
- Swiss Cheese ~ Slices.
- Italian Bread Loaf ~ or French Bread.
- Honey Mustard Sauce ~ classic yellow mustard or Dijon works too.
- Bread and Butter Pickles ~ or dill slices.
- Butter
- Granulated Garlic
How to Make Smoked Pork Sandwiches:
- We like to slice about ½ inch of the bread loaf from the center to keep the sandwich from being too thick and hard to eat. Save it for toast, croutons or bread crumbs.
- Spread the bread with honey mustard and top with pickle slices.
- Add a layer of pork roast, cheese, ham and one more layer of cheese.
- Toast the sandwich until bread is heated through and cheese is melted.
- Remove from oven and put the sandwich together.
- Press the sandwich with your hands to flatten.
- Brush with garlic butter.
- Cut into slices and serve.
How to Store and Reheat:
- Store leftovers wrapped in plastic wrap in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
- Sandwiches can be served cold or wrap in foil and heat in a 350° oven for about 12- 15 minutes.

Smoked Pork Sandwich
Smoked Pork Sandwich loaded with thin sliced smoked pork butt, thin sliced ham and Swiss cheese. Toasted on Italian bread with piles of pickles and mustard.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf Italian or French bread
- ½ cup honey mustard sauce
- 1 cup bread and butter pickle slices
- 8 ounces thin sliced smoked pork butt
- 8 ounces thin sliced ham
- 12 slices Swiss cheese
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- ½ teaspoon granulated garlic
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- Slice about ½ inch layer out of the center (longwise) of the Italian Bread and save for another use.
- Place the two outer layers of the bread onto a baking sheet.
- Spread honey mustard sauce over each side and top with pickle slices.
- Layer smoked pork over each followed by slices of Swiss cheese. Add the ham and then 4 more slices of cheese to one side.
- Bake the sandwich for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and bread is lightly toasted.
- Remove from oven and put the sandwich layers together, pressing with your hands to smash the sandwich,
- Mix the melted butter and granulated garlic together and brush over the top of the sandwich.
- Cut into slices and serve immediately.
Notes
Store leftover sandwiches wrapped in plastic wrap or in a zip top bag in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
Serve cold or reheat wrapped in foil in a 350° oven for 12- 15 minutes.
