Ingredients for Grilled Garlic Butter Shrimp:

  • Salted Butter
  • Minced Garlic
  • Ground Rosemary
  • Dried Thyme
  • Black Pepper
  • Brown Sugar
  • Jumbo Shrimp ~  peeled and deveined
  • Fresh Parsley ~ optional garnish

How to Grill Garlic Butter Shrimp:

  • Prepare a grill fire to 300° adding pecan chunks for smoke flavor.

  • Make the garlic butter by melting butter over low heat in a small skillet.

  • Add minced garlic and cook, stirring frequently until garlic just starts to brown.
  • Remove from heat and stir in rosemary, thyme and black pepper. Stir to combine, cool 2 minutes.
  • Stir in brown sugar until dissolved, set aside while you grill the shrimp.

  • Place shrimp on a grill pan or directly onto the grill over indirect heat.

  • Cook for about 5 minutes with the grill closed, cook until shrimp are curled and no longer translucent.
  • Shrimp can be tested with a digital meat thermometer and is cooked through at 145°.

  • Remove to a rimmed sheet pan.
  • Pour toasted garlic butter over shrimp.

  • Toss shrimp with garlic butter until well coated.

  • Top with parsley if desired and serve immediately.

How to Store and Reheat:

Leftover shrimp can be stored in an airtight container or zip top bag up to 3 days in the refrigerator.

Reheat in a skillet with a tablespoon of butter over low heat, turn after about 1 minute and continue to cook until heated through about 3 – 5 minutes total.

It’s just as easy to cook 2 – 3 pounds of shrimp as it is one. Serve half of it for dinner and the other half can be made ahead for tacos, shrimp pasta or add it to your favorite soup recipes.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup salted butter
  • 2 large garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 ½ pounds jumbo shrimp peeled and deveined

Instructions

  • Prepare a grill fire to 300° with pecan chunks for smoke flavor.
  • Make the garlic butter in a small skillet, melting butter over low heat.
  • Add minced garlic, stir frequently until garlic is toasted and lightly browned.
  • Remove from heat, stir in rosemary, thyme, and pepper, stir to combined. Set aside 2 minutes.
  • Stir in brown sugar and set aside.
  • Grill shrimp over indirect fire for about 5 minutes with the grill closed or until shrimp reaches 145°, checking with a digital thermometer. Shrimp will be pink and curled, no longer translucent.
  • Remove to a rimmed sheet pan.
  • Drizzle with garlic butter and toss to coat.
  • Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Recipe can be doubled as needed.
Store leftover shrimp in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
Reheat in a skillet coated in melted butter over low heat about 3- 5 minutes, turning half way through.
