Best Dry Rub
The Best Dry Rub for grilling steaks, ribs, chicken or pork chops. A super simple mixture of brown sugar, garlic and spices that will take your meals on the grill to the next level of delicious.

Mixing up your own spice blends for grilling is really easy and you can easily customize the flavors, amount of salt and level of heat you get from the spices.
How to Make Dry Rub Grill Seasoning:
- In a bowl or shallow dish, combine brown sugar, granulated garlic, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, dry mustard and red pepper flakes.
- Store in an airtight container up to a month. Mix with a fork to loosen the brown sugar before use.
Variations:
The red pepper flakes add a touch of heat to this rub, if you are sensitive to spicy foods, just omit the red pepper flakes.
We also love this Sweet Garlic and Onion Rub for grilling pork chops, chicken, steaks and fish. It’s also great for grilling vegetables or sprinkling over baked potatoes.
Tips for Making a Dry Rub:
Using fresh, quality spices will definitely make a difference in flavor. I use Spiceology for all of my spices. They are available to order online through their store or conveniently through Amazon.
Store your dry rubs and spice mixes in airtight containers. I like these plastic deli containers or Weck Jars, which are easy to measure from.
