Deviled Eggs
Deviled Eggs are a must have appetizer for any cookout or get together. Southern style deviled eggs with a simple filling made with mayo, mustard and garlic.
Having a few easy make ahead appetizers is a great way to extend your menu and feed a crowd. A few of our favorites are Salmon Cream Cheese Dip and Cheesy Bean Dip.
It is a big expectation that every holiday, cookout or family gathering that takes place in the south will have a platter of deviled eggs and this recipe is a tried and true family favorite.
Ingredients Needed
- Eggs
- Mayonnaise
- Dijon Mustard
- Granulated Garlic
- Kosher Salt
- Black Pepper
- Smoked Paprika
Follow these step by step directions for hard boiled eggs that are easy to peel!
Step By Step Directions
STEP 1 Bring a large pan of water to a boil.
STEP 2 Carefully, lower whole eggs into the water with a spoon or strainer. Boil the eggs for 13 minutes.
STEP 3 Drain the eggs and place into a bowl of ice water for 10 minutes.
STEP 4 Drain the eggs and peel, breaking the shell on the large end. Place egg under running cool water and the shell with come right off.
STEP 5 Dry peeled eggs with paper towels.
STEP 6 Slice eggs in half, longwise.
STEP 7 Scoop the yolks into a bowl and place the egg whites onto a platter.
STEP 8 Mash the yolks with a fork. Add mayonnaise, mustard, garlic, salt and pepper and mix well.
STEP 9 Spoon or using a piping bag to fill the egg whites with the deviled egg filling.
STEP 10 Sprinkle with smoked paprika.
STEP 11 Cover platter with plastic wrap and chill at least 1 hour or until ready to serve.
Variations
- Pickle Relish: Stir in 2 tablespoons of pickle relish to the filling for additional texture and flavor.
- Green Onions: Thin sliced green onions can be folded into the deviled egg filling.
- Spicy: Chop pickled or candied jalapeños and add to the filling or use as a garnish.
- Fresh Herbs: Chop fresh parsley, thyme or basil and sprinkle over the eggs for garnish.
Storage
Store deviled eggs in an airtight container or plastic wrap covered plate in the refrigerator up to 4 days.
