Honey Pecan Salmon ~ Quick and Easy Dinner

We pick up a couple of salmon filets every chance we get to have on hand for a quick and easy meal. Add grilled asparagus and serve with rice pilaf for a family pleasing dinner. 

Ingredients Needed:

  • Salmon Filet
  • Honey
  • Pecans
  • Granulated Garlic
  • Smoked Paprika
  • Rosemary
  • Salted Butter

How to Grill Honey Pecan Salmon:

  • Prepare a grill fire to 300° using pecan or hickory for smoke flavor.

  • Remove salmon from packaging, pat dry with paper towels and place on a baking sheet.

  • Make the honey pecan sauce together in a bowl by combining the honey, finely chopped pecans, garlic, smoked paprika, finely chopped rosemary and melted butter.

  • Place the salmon filet, skin side down over indirect fire. Cook with the grill closed about 10 minutes.

  • Brush the honey pecan sauce over the salmon, do not turn the salmon.

  • Close the grill and continue to cook until salmon reaches 135° – 140° for medium finish, the USDA recommends an internal temperature of 145° for all fish and seafood. A digital meat thermometer is a must-have for perfectly cooked salmon.

  • Remove salmon to a clean baking sheet.

  • Slice with a sharp knife.
  • Serve immediately.Plate with salmon and rice.

How to Store and Reheat:

  • Store salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 days. 
  • Reheat in a skillet with melted butter or a little olive oil over medium heat, flip after about 2 minutes and continue to cook until heated through.

Ingredients

  • 1 salmon filet 1 1/2- 2 pounds
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped rosemary
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter melted

Instructions

  • Prepare a grill fire to 300° using pecan or hickory for smoke flavor.

  • In a small bowl, add honey, finely chopped pecans, garlic, smoked paprika, finely chopped rosemary and melted butter. Whisk together until well combined.
  • Place the salmon filet, skin side down over indirect fire. Cook with the grill closed about 10 minutes.
  • Brush the honey pecan sauce over the salmon, do not turn the salmon. 
  • Close the grill and continue to cook until salmon reaches 135° - 140° for medium finish, using a digital meat thermometer. Total cooking time will depend on the size of the salmon, our total cook time was about 20 minutes.
  • Remove salmon to a clean baking sheet, rest 5 minutes.
  • Slice with a sharp knife and serve immediately.

Notes

Recommended cooking temperature for salmon:
The USDA recommends an internal temperature of 145° for all fish and seafood.
Store leftover salmon in an airtight container or wrapped in 2 layers of plastic wrap in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
Reheat in a skillet coated with olive oil or butte rover medium heat, flip after about 2 minutes and continue to cook until heated through.
