Smoked Chili is a dinner we can all agree on and if we have venison in the freezer, Grilled Venison Chili is always a favorite.
Making homemade chili seasoning is super simple and it’s made with just a few pantry ingredients that you probably have on hand. We like to add a little brown sugar to ours but it’s optional if you would like to leave it out.
Ingredients Needed
- Brown Sugar
- Ancho Chili Powder ~ or any red chili powder
- Granulated Garlic
- Granulated Onion Powder
- Ground Cumin
- Smoked Paprika
- Kosher Salt
- Coarse Black Pepper
- Dry Mustard
- *Cayenne Pepper if you want it spicy
Directions
- Add everything to a bowl.
- Mix all ingredients together with a whisk or large tined fork, mixing thoroughly until no lumps remain.
- Store in an airtight container in the cabinet up to 6 months. Brown sugar will clump, so mix with a fork before measuring.

Make it Spicy: Add 1 – 3 teaspoons of cayenne pepper to add more heat to the chili seasoning.
Directions for Use: For each pound of meat, use 1/2 cup of seasoning mix.
