Grilled Chicken Fajitas
Grilled Chicken Fajitas are the most flavorful and delicious fajitas that you can make. Easy to feed a crowd or to meal prep for busy weeknights. A restaurant favorite that you can make even better in your own backyard.
If we are going out to eat, we almost always choose Mexican. My husband always picks fajitas and I love to snag a bite or two. The smell of the sizzling chicken, onions and peppers is just so irresistible.
We love making fajitas at home and it’s surprisingly easy. Take your next taco night to the next level of deliciousness with these easy chicken fajitas.

How to Make Grilled Chicken Fajitas:
- Mix orange juice and olive oil in a shallow dish like a pie plate. Whisk in fajita seasonings.
- Add 2 whole, boneless, skinless chicken breasts and turn to coat both sides. Cover and refrigerate until ready to grill, up to 4 hours.
- Slice bell peppers and onions into thin strips. Red, yellow and orange are my favorites but green bell peppers work great too.
- Mix sliced vegetables with olive oil and fajita seasonings.
- Prepare the grill to a 300° fire with pecan or hickory wood for the best smoke flavor.
- Place marinated chicken over indirect fire.
- Pour vegetables onto a grill pan and place over indirect fire.
- Close the lid and cook for 10 minutes.
- Stir vegetables and turn chicken breasts over. Close the lid and continue to cook until internal temperature reaches 165°, about 10 – 15 minutes depending on the thickness of your chicken.
- Remove vegetables and chicken from grill. Allow chicken to rest about 5 minutes before slicing.
- Serve sliced chicken and vegetables with soft flour tortillas.

Grilled Chicken Fajitas
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless chicken breasts
- 1 large red bell pepper
- ½ large yellow bell pepper
- ½ large orange bell pepper
- 1 large onion
- 6 tablespoons olive oil divided use
- ½ cup orange juice
- 2 tablespoons granulated garlic
- 2 tablespoons ground cumin
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 2 limes sliced
- ¼ cup chopped cilantro
- ½ cup salsa
- 8 flour tortillas - fajita size
- 1 cup shredded cheese
Instructions
- In a small bowl combine fajita seasonings: garlic, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, brown sugar and salt.
- Mix 1/4 fajita seasonings together with olive oil and orange juice in a shallow dish.
- Add whole chicken breasts to marinade and turn to coat all sides.
- Cover and refrigerate up to 4 hours until ready to grill.
- Slice peppers and onions thin. Toss with 1/4 cup olive oil and 1/4 cup of fajita seasonings.
- Prepare a grill fire to 300° with pecan or hickory wood for smoke.
- Place chicken over indirect heat.
- Put a grill pan over indirect heat and add vegetables, spreading evenly.
- Close the lid and cook 10 minutes.
- Stir the vegetables and turn the chicken breasts. Close the lid and continue to cook until internal temperature of chicken reaches 165°.
- Remove from grill and allow chicken to rest 5 minutes before slicing.
- Serve thin sliced chicken on flour tortillas with fresh lime slices, cilantro and salsa.
