Smoked Ground Beef Tacos are easy to make on the grill. Seasoned ground beef gets a smoky kick that makes an epic taco night with all of your favorite toppings.

- 1 tablespoon bacon grease or olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef lean 90/10
- 3 tablespoons fajita seasoning or taco seasoning
- 12 taco shells crunchy or flour tortillas
- 1 ½ cups cheddar cheese shredded
- 2 cups lettuce shredded
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup salsa fresca
- ½ cup green onions sliced
- ½ cup cilantro chopped
Prepare a grill fire to 350°.
Grease a cast iron skillet with bacon grease or olive oil.
Add the ground beef and fajita seasoning.
Place on a grill (we are using a pellet grill) and cook with the grill closed for 10 minutes.
Break up the ground beef as it browns using a spatula or wooden spoon. Continue to cook until ground beef is well browned and reaches 165° using a digital meat thermometer.
Remove from grill.
Serve smoked taco meat with your favorite toppings and Mexican sides
- Stove Top: Ground beef taco meat can be prepared on the stove top in a skillet if desired. Cook over medium-high heat, breaking up as it cooks until well browned. Add 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke for smoky flavor.
- Uses for Smoked Ground Beef: Makes delicious burritos, nachos, taco salad or chili.
- Storage: Store leftover taco meat in an airtight container in the refrigerator 3-4 days or freeze up to 3 months.
- Reheat: Cook taco meat over medium heat in a skillet with 1- 2 tablespoons of water, stirring until heated through.
