Ingredients

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling: Chop the smoked brisket and heat it up in a skillet, just until warm. Add BBQ sauce, grated cheddar cheese, and sliced green onions. Stir until well combined.
  • Assemble the Wontons: Lay a wonton wrapper flat on a clean surface. Place about a tablespoon of brisket mixture in the center. Dip your finger in water and lightly moisten the edges of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper diagonally to form a triangle and press the edges together to seal tightly. Wet two of the points of the triangle and press to the center. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling. Keep wontons under a damp paper towel until ready to fry.
  • Heat the Oil: Pour enough oil into a deep skillet or dutch oven to submerge the wontons. Heat the oil to 375°, using a fry thermometer.
  • Fry the Wontons: Carefully add a few wontons to the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes, turning, cooking until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the wontons and place them on a paper towel-lined baking sheet to drain any excess oil. Repeat with the remaining wontons.
  • Serve: Arrange the fried wontons on a serving platter and pair them with ranch dressing for dipping. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Variations: Use any cheese you have on hand. Pepper jack, smoked gouda, colby or mozzarella are great options. Add diced jalapenos or use spicy bbq sauce if prefered.
Leftovers: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator 1-2 days.
Reheat: Place on a baking sheet and cook in a 400° oven or toaster oven until heated through.
