Venison Sliders

Venison Sliders are made with ground venison wrapped in thick cut bacon, grilled and slathered in bbq sauce. Served up with cheese on dinner rolls for a quick meal or easy appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds ground venison
  • 3 tablespoons steak rub
  • 16 slices thick cut bacon
  • ½ cup sweet and tangy bbq sauce
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 16 dinner rolls or slider buns
  • mayonnaise mustard, ketchup for serving

Instructions

  • Prepare a grill fire to 350° using pecan or hickory for smoke flavor.
  • Mix venison with steak rub and flatten to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter to shape the patties to about the same size as your dinner rolls.
  • Wrap each venison patty with a thick slice of bacon.
  • Grill bacon wrapped patties over indirect fire with the grill closed about 10 minutes. Flip the burgers and brush with bbq sauce.
  • Continue to cook another 5 minutes, flip the burgers and brush with more bbq sauce. Cook until bacon is cooked through and venison has reached 165° using a ditgital meat thermometer. About 20 minutes total cooking time.
  • Top each burger with half of a slice of cheese.
  • Remove from grill.
  • Cut dinner rolls in half and toast lightly if desired.
  • Serve patties on buns with your favorite condiments.

Notes

Store sliders in a zip top bag in the refrigerator up to 4 days.
To reheat sliders. Place on a baking sheet and cover with foil. Bake at 350° for 10- 15 minutes until heated through.
