Grilled Okra

Grilled Okra is one of the most delicious ways to cook fresh okra. This super simple recipe is even a favorite with those that don't usually like okra!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound okra
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon granulated garlic
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon fresh ground pepper

Instructions

  • Prepare a grill fire to 350°.
  • Wash and dry the okra.
  • In a small bowl whisk together olive oil, vinegar, garlic, salt and pepper.
  • Drizzle over the okra and toss together.
  • Cook over direct fire on the grill with the lid closed for 5 minutes.
  • Use tongs to turn the okra and continue to cook another 3- 5 minutes or until tender and slightly charred.
  • Remove from grill and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Choose small to medium size okra pods with no black spots.
  • Okra can be grilled on skewers if you are worried about it falling through the grates.
  • Italian Salad dressing can be substituted for the oil, vinegar and seasonings.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet coated with olive oil over medium heat, stirring until heated through.
