Beer Brats

Beer Brats with mushrooms and onions are a great addition to your next cookout! These flavorful German sausages are simmered with beer and onions and then slow grilled to perfection.

Ingredients

  • 4 Bratwurst
  • 2 cans beer we used Bud Light
  • 2 large onions thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves sliced
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt divided use
  • 2 teaspoon black pepper divided use
  • 8 oz mushrooms thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil divided use
  • 4 buns

Instructions

  • Place bratwurst in a pan and cover with beer.
  • Top with sliced onions, garlic, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of pepper.
  • Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and allow to sit 30 minutes.
  • Remove brats and onions from beer and place on a grill pan with sliced mushrooms.
  • Brush brats with oil and use remaining oil to drizzle over mushrooms.
  • Season mushrooms with remaining salt and pepper.
  • Place over indirect heat and cook for 15-20 minutes with the grill closed. Internal temperature of brats should reach 160°.
  • Remove from grill and serve on buns with mushrooms, onions and any desired toppings.
