Root Beer BBQ Sauce

Root Beer BBQ Sauce is a rich and delicious bbq sauce that is slightly sweet with just the right amount of tangy flavor. The perfect grilling sauce for ribs, pork chops and burgers and amazing on pulled pork.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups ketchup
  • 12 ounces root beer
  • ½ cup V8 juice
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon coarse black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground chili flakes

Instructions

  • Add ketchup, root beer, V8 juice, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, garlic, salt, pepper, chili powder and onion powder to a sauce pan.
  • Whisk together and cook over medium heat. Stir often until sauce begins to bubble.
  • Add the brown sugar and continue to whisk until brown sugar is dissolved.
  • Lower to simmer and cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and stir in ground chili flakes.
  • Pour into jars, cover and cool to room temperature. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

Store sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 months.
