We often serve both turkey and ham for Thanksgiving dinner and this pineapple glazed ham recipe is a show- stopper main dish that has so much flavor. The traditional holiday ham with pineapple rings is always a favorite and this recipe takes it to the next level of flavor.

Ingredients Needed

  • Spiral Sliced Ham
  • Canned Crushed Pineapple 
  • Brown Sugar
  • Granulated Garlic
  • Smoked Paprika
  • Kosher Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Ground Ginger

Step By Step Directions

  • Add crushed pineapple with the juice into a blender and blend until smooth.
  • In a small bowl, add the brown sugar, garlic, smoked paprika, salt, pepper and ginger.
  • Mix well.
  • Pour the pineapple and spice mix into a sauce pan.

  • Whisk together and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until sauce starts to bubble and brown sugar is dissolved.
  • Set aside to cool slightly.
  • Prepare a grill fire to 250°. We cooked this ham on our pellet grill using hickory pellets.

  • Place the ham on a clean baking sheet. Pat dry with paper towels.
  • Brush the pineapple glaze all over the ham and between the slices.

  • Cook ham with the grill closed for 1 hour.

  • Brush with additional glaze and continue cooking for another 30 minutes to one hour until  the center of the ham reaches 140° using a digital meat thermometer.

  • Remove from the grill and rest about 10 minutes before serving.

How to Store and Reheat

  • Wrap ham in several layers of plastic wrap or store in a zip top bag in the refrigerator up to 4 days. Vacuum sealed ham can be stored in the refrigerator up to 7 days or freeze up to 3 months. Save the ham bone for beans or soup.
  • Reheat ham slices in a skillet coated with olive oil and cook over medium heat, turning after 2 minutes, to crisp both sides.

Ingredients

  • 7 - 9 pound spiral sliced ham
  • 20 ounce can crushed pineapple
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ tablespoons granulated garlic
  • 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons black pepper
  • ¾ teaspoon ground ginger

Instructions

  • Pour crushed pineapple with the juice into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
  • Mix brown sugar with garlic, smoked paprika, salt, pepper and ground ginger.
  • Add blended pineapple with brown sugar and seasonings to a saucepan and cook over medium heat. Whisk until combined, stir occasionally until sauce bubbles and brown sugar is melted into the sauce. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • Pat ham dry with paper towels.
  • Brush with pineapple glaze all over and in between slices.
  • Prepare a grill fire to 250°. We cooked this ham on our pellet grill with hickory pellets.
  • Cook ham 1 hour with the grill closed.
  • Brush again with glaze and continue to cook for another 30 minutes go 1 hour or until ham reaches 140° using a digital meat thermometer.
  • Remove from grill and rest 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftover ham slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 4 days or vacuum sealed up to 7 days. Freeze up to 3 months.
Reheat sliced ham in a skillet coated with olive oil over medium heat, turning to warm from both sides.
